One World Trade Center

Soaring over Manhattan, One World Trade Center is a beautiful reminder of the tenacity of New Yorkers in the face of adversity. Built to memorialize the Twin Towers, the “Freedom Tower” opened on November 3, 2014.

Its height of 1,776 feet makes it the tallest building in the Western hemisphere and is a direct reference to the year when the Declaration of Independence was signed. Built from recycled materials, heated by steam and fueled in part by off-site hydroelectric and wind power, it is one of the most eco-friendly skyscrapers in the New York City skyline.

Called a “21st Century Renaissance of New York,” the complex will ultimately house the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center, the World Trade Center Transportation Hub, 550,000 square feet of retail space and a Performing Arts Center. The remaining buildings around One World Trade Center are slated for completion in 2020.
