Brooklyn Navy Yard

For over 150 years, the Brooklyn Navy Yard built America's most famous fighting ships, from the USS Maine to the USS Missouri. Today, the Yard has become a model for sustainable urban industrial parks. Spreading across 300 acres on the scenic Brooklyn waterfront, the Yard features a thriving industrial park, three fully functioning dry docks and four active piers.

It consists of 40 buildings and tenants representing a variety of industries, from movie studios, furniture manufacturers, to ship repairers and architectural designers. A visitors' center is housed in a 154-year-old historic military home, once occupied by the naval commandant.

A tour provides a closer look at the Yard's most intriguing sites, including a dry dock that's been used since before the Civil War, the 24-acre former Navy hospital campus virtually frozen in time, the nation's first multi-story LEED Gold-certified industrial building, and Building 92, the Yard's new historical museum. In 2014, the entire yard was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a historic district.
